poetry

she is swallowing your lies

she is swallowing your lies with her mariposa smile
knowing that lies only last so long before the truth is given wings
before the others see your tongue covered in blood from the ones you chewed up and spit out to line your golden-colored streets
and if looks could kill you softly
well
she’d take you from the knees

from my third poetry book, Made of Earth.
