my new neighbor has a black cat
black cats are my favorite because everyone thinks they’re signs of bad luck
(just like me)
but black cats are my favorite
quite simply because of that
he’s also got a cactus in a terracotta pot
it’s bigger than mine are
winding up to the sky like a vertical hill
his chair is the same turquoise blue as his shirt and
his black tattoos match his black cat
I wonder what he does for work
