Your life is what you consciously create
In all of the books I’ve read on the law of attraction there is the same idea that ‘your life is what you consciously create.’
And it’s been a really hard thing for me to wrap my brain around.
What about all of the people in poverty? Or all of the wars, starvation, sexual abuse, sex trafficking, etc. Did those people consciously create that?
In The Energy Codes, Dr. Sue Morter talks about the “bus stop metaphor” in regards to questions like this. Pretend you’re at a “Cosmic Bus Stop” where you stop between life on earth. You’re all talking and someone says they want to learn wisdom or unconditional love, and you’re like, “I want to learn to forgive the unforgivable—like someone who drives drunk and kills my whole family. Who will help me with this?” and a bunch of souls are super uncomfy, but eventually, someone volunteers as tribute. And then you’re like, “awesome, thank you, see you on earth” and you get off the bus.
She goes on to say, "What if I actually generated that situation to awake myself to something?…what if on some higher level I requested this experience so that I could explore a beautiful, powerful, and magnificent part of me that I wasn’t aware of before?”
And though some might view this as victim shaming, something in my brain clicked. We can request what we want to learn, but we don’t request or control how it happens. No one is without trauma, not even me. But instead of focusing on “why is this happening/did this happen or what did I do wrong” asking “what can I learn from this? what is this teaching me?” And maybe the answer is fairly simple; to forgive. To surrender. To release.
She says, “when you see your life from this perspective and recognize how you are being served by what has happened in it, you discover that you don’t need to engage in unnecessary suffering on top of the pain. You no longer take what happened personally to mean something negative or limiting about yourself, others, or the world.”
So I ended up making a Venn Diagram of Life haha.
What life already is + what we do not control (ie other people)= FATE.
What life is + what we want = DESTINY because we can change our fate.
What we want + what we do not control can equal either HOPE or DESPAIR—we get to decide. It’s like a choose your own adventure book.
Anyway, at the center of it all is the life we choose to consciously create. How we react to situations, how we feel, how long we feel it, what we do with our fate or our destiny etc.
There is nothing more empowering that knowing that you are a co-creator with the universe. Life is not happening to me—life is happening for me.
Thx for coming to my TedTalk ;)
