🌻 According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), 72 percent of adults report that anxiety interferes with their lives on a daily basis.

SO many of us are struggling with our feelings and sometimes it feels like nothing is helping us–and before I go any further I just want to say:

🌻 There is nothing wrong with taking medication as prescribed by your people

When all else fails, people often turn to plants

“What essential oils can I use for me [insert mood here]?” is something I hear all the time and to be honest, there are a lot of oils you can use! Oils that are high in linalool and linalyl acetate are very calming.

“I don’t really need these.” —me to me a couple of weeks ago. And tbh, I felt fine. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Then my happiness level seemed to go down. I felt sad, but never could figure out why. My patience was thinner. And my inner mean girl got louder and louder. She’s a dick. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Then I woke up this morning and looked at the oils and supplements I keep next to my bed, and inner me was like, you need this. So I took one without expecting much. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have this bad habit of starting a good thing, then stopping—like I have to see if it *actually* works or is meant to be or something. Like how I stopped taking this. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But this morning after taking just one of these magic plant pills, my head is quiet. Self-deprecating and belittling thoughts have stfu. I can focus. BUT you can’t just throw an essential oil at a feeling and call it good, otherwise, it’s nothing more than a liquid bandaid. You need to get to the roots.

Getting to the roots with Adaptiv

We aren’t here to numb ourselves from our experiences or avoid them altogether. What we want is to learn how to become emotionally flexible. Adaptiv helps you to create a healthy foundation for your roots to grow!

In the morning I take a calming capsule: it’s a blend of essential oils Lavender, Coriander, Wild Orange, and Fennel along with Sceletium, which is also known as KANNA. This plant is native to South Africa. Traditionally the roots were fermented, dried in the sun, then chewed, smoked, or ground into a powder that was used to enhances mood and a sense of connection, while relieving anxious feelings.

Our Sceletium Extract is responsibly sourced from a sustainable supply with endorsement by the South African indigenous knowledge holders.

The capsules also have Ahiflower–this is the highest plant-based omega (and we all know we need a balance of omegas for our brain to be at it’s best). The capsules also contain GABA (A quieting neurotransmitter that promotes relaxation and is sometimes called “the brakes of the brain).

How to use essential oils to disrupt negative thinking

There are a lot of ways to release negative emotions (I have a post about that here), but two of my favorite ways are simply using an affirmation, my gratitude practice, and meditation.

The science of Adaptiv

Before this system was release, doTERRA conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled with 80 participants (one as young as 12). Participants had to take the generalized anxiety disorder survey to qualify for the study. (You can find it here if you’re curious!) Here are some bullet points:

  • After the four week trial they participants were surveyed again and they found that Adaptiv helped them to feel better, more adaptable, calmer, and more productive.
  • ALL participants reported feeling less anxious (including the ones on placebo; the power of the mind is incredibly strong!) BUT
  • ADAPTIV PERFORMED BETTER THAN THE PLACEBO
  • Most people felt the benefits within the first few days to a week; effects persisted and even improved after four weeks
  • The avg self-assessment was a 12/24 and went down to a three. One participant started with a score of 20 — and also went down to a THREE. They said, “I go through my days now feeling happy, feeling hopeful.”
